Court Ordered Revocations
Your operatorís license and/or operating privileges can be revoked whenever you are convicted of a traffic violation and the judgment from the court contains an order to withdraw the operatorís license and/or privileges for the time period ordered by the court.
All requirements listed below must be submitted to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), Financial Responsibility Office in Lincoln (located in the State Office Building at 301 Centennial Mall South) prior to reinstatement:
1. Surrender operatorís license/permit or sign an affidavit of lost license if you no longer have possession of the license. This does not apply if the license has expired.
2. File proof of financial responsibility, which is to remain on file at the Nebraska DMV for three (3) years from the date of eligibility for reinstatement Ė regardless of your state of residence. This is normally provided in the form of a SR-22 Certificate of Insurance - which must be submitted for each vehicle registered in your name. Failure to comply with this requirement would result in the suspension of the operating privileges for an Insurance Cancellation.
3. Pay a $125.00 reinstatement fee. Payment must be in the form of a cashierís check or money order made payable to the Department of Motor Vehicles or online with MasterCard, Visa or Discover. When submitting payment by mail, include identifying information (i.e. name, date of birth, license or social security number and current mailing address). Payment submitted by personal or business checks or not for the required amount will be returned.
Drivers who have had their operatorís license and/or privileges revoked, must test and apply for a new license.
