RECOGNIZED CAR CLUBS
A Recognized Car Club is an organization, recognized by the Department of Motor Vehicles, that has members with knowledge of and expertise pertaining to authentic vehicles and that has members with knowledge of and expertise pertaining to the restoration and preservation of specific makes and models of vehicles using replacement parts that are essentially the same in design and material to that originally supplied by the manufacturer of a specific year, make, and model or vehicle.
To become a Recognized Car Club, an Application to Become a Recognized Car Club* must be filed with the Department of Motor Vehicles. Along with the application, the applicant must provide a copy of the club’s bylaws and a membership list.
The Department will determine if a car club qualifies as a Recognized Car Club. If such recognition is issued, then members of the car club may apply to become Qualified Car Club Representatives.
A Qualified Car Club Representative inspects assembled motor vehicles to determine if they qualify as an Assembled Classic Motor Vehicle.
